"Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbours to compromise whenever you can... Point out to them how the nominal winner is often the real loser... In fees, expenses and waste of time."

~ Abraham Lincoln 1850

Mediator may liaise with a party to bring them into mediation

Meets and listens to each party separately and confidentially (Family Mediation)

Advises parties on the suitability of mediation and on the most appropriate method of mediation:

  • One mediator working with the parties together
  • Two mediators, usually of different genders working together with the parties (Co-mediation)
  • Mediator working with the parties and their legal/financial advisors, in separate rooms (Hybrid)

Arranges with all parties suitable venues and times for the mediation

Mediator provides most forms that may be needed, and on completion of successful medation, the mediator produces and sends to all parties a Draft Order or Memorandum of Understanding, which could provide the basis for a Court Order as necessary

A real alternative to litigation

The opportunity, with the assistance of the mediator, to negotiate the settlement of disputes; rather than having to accept the judgement of a court at considerable expense of time and money

More realistic settlements for families and commercially realistic agreements for businesses

Almost any dispute is suitable for mediation. All that is required is that the parties voluntarily agree to mediate and have the authority to settle the dispute

Trading links and friendships mostly survive the mediation process
